The Single-Shot firing mode is the use of only one bullet per shot.
Pistols, snipers, shotguns, and even several assault rifles fall under the single-shot category. It is further sub-divided into other types of single-fire modes, such as:
- Single Fire
- Single & Double Action
When using single shot, one round is discharged with one click of the mouse. Therefore, it is very uncommon because most encounters require a fast rate of fire more often than accuracy. When accuracy is required, like in a situation where a target is only partially exposed, taking controlled, single shots is recommended (disregarding whether or not the weapon has single shot). The single shot/semi-automatic firing mode allows a player to shoot precisely without having to worry about the next shot throwing off his or her aim.
- Weapons like the K2, MK14 Mod 0, and M14 are the only assault rifles that have this mode of shooting, which is notable because assault rifles primarily use full auto or burst firing.
- Although most pistols use single shot, many can fire as quickly as a player can pull the trigger, which can imitate full auto firing (albeit with more strain on your trigger finger).
