The M60 is one of the first weapons available in Combat Arms.
Overview
The M60 machine gun is one of the first machine guns players have access to when they start the game. It is also one of the cheapest. The M60 is a general purpose machine gun whose strengths lie within support and covering fire. Its relatively high damage and ammo capacity makes this weapon a very good support weapon in fireteam missions. Though it can be used in player vs player modes such as elimination, most players would not recommend this for those types of modes.
Two downfalls that plague the weapon are its high recoil, poor accuracy, and heavy weight. Moving while having this weapon equipped will make your character move at a snail's pace, making you a target for snipers and assault rifle users. This weapon struggles at medium and long range due to its poor accuracy and high recoil and it struggles close range as its rate of fire and heavy weight make it unwieldy for close quarters combat.
In spite of that, this weapon's intended role as a support weapon shines in fireteam modes where movement speed and accuracy are not as crucial. Its high damage and large ammo capacity allows it to sustain a constant stream of bullets on the enemy, whether they be human, infected, or a little bit of both. This weapon is a great starter machine gun for newer players looking into adventuring into fireteam missions due to its low rank restriction and relatively low cost.
TAU Event Variant
The 2/20/14 patch introduced a permanent variant of the M60 in Combat Arms North America: the M60 TAU. This variant was part of a special event in which players could complete various upgrade and scavenging jobs in order to obtain another special variant, the M60E4 TAU Steel.
In the upgrade section of the jobs tab there was a special job which enabled players to upgrade this weapon into a M60E4 TAU. The requirement was to achieve 150 kills with the gun.

Trivia
- This gun can be forged into a Box Gun.
- Though a very powerful weapon in real life, CA's version of the M60 has been greatly reduced in potential.
- In real-life, the M60's heat shield is often removed to facilitate barrel changes and would often have a green cloth or plastic box to hold the ammo.
- This weapon, like many other machine guns, comes with an (unusable) bi-pod.
