A hunting version of the classic M14. Features a scope for precise, long-distance fire.
  — Item Description

The M14 Hunter is an Assault Rifle and variant of the M14 series and was released in the 6/19/13 Content Update along with the Return of the MYST-N event and a new map, Quantum Labs.

Overview[]

It has a brown desert camo, a sniper scope, and a smiley face on its scope lid. The Hunter is statistically superior to all M14 variants and tied with the M14 Classic in regards to their variations of damage, portability, rate of fire, and recoil statistically speaking. It has 1 point less damage and 5 points less portability then the M14 Classic, but it also has 5 points more for rate of fire and 1 point less in recoil than its NX-Rare variant.

Unlike most M14 variants, its high rate of fire and controllable spread even make it a practical weapon to use in some close-quarters encounters just like the MK14 Mod 0 variant. Its fairly quick drawspeed also helps out in close quarters situations.

The spread is very controllable compared to the other M14 variants, going predictably straight up and recovering quickly, giving this gun a good tapfire ability. The spread tends to tighten even more when in semi-automatic.

However, this weapon suffers from significant damage drop off along with the rest of the M14 family at longer ranges (like across Kill Creek) dropping off to a 8 hit kill on a medium vester, 7 hit kill on a light vester, and 9 hit kill on a tanker vest. Nonetheless it still maintains a solid 3 hit kill in normal ranges no matter what the vest(excluding Hauser). It is also a 2 hit kill to the back and to light vesters. The trade offs of this weapon are mainly its portability, tying for the some of the heavier assault rifles in the game, and the low ammunition capacity common to the M14 family.

Trivia[]

  • The M14 Hunter is the sixth assault rifle to feature the green reticle scope of the L96 series (the five weapons are the REC7 Rangers, M417 SB,  XM8, XM8-Scorpions, and XM8-Spiders).
  • Under the iron sight, there is an engraving on the gun that says, "U.S. RIFLE 7.62 MM M14 SPRINGFIELD ARMORY 11849."
  • As of the Combat Arms Reboot, the ACE version of the gun has 20/100 ammo while the original version has 20/60.
